Marrakech eSIM: A week-long ladder

The Marrakech eSIM carries LTE data on Orange, with a shorter ladder than most destinations. Fixed sizes stop at 5 GB and the unlimited passes stop at seven days. Install it at home over Wi-Fi, before you land at Marrakesh Menara Airport. The days begin with the first connection you make inside Morocco, not at purchase.

7 plans for Morocco, from 1 GB at $5.99 to 5 GB at $21.99, plus 3 unlimited-data tiers. 5 GB for 30 days costs $21.99 — 8th cheapest of 35 in Africa, against a $25.99 median. Our retail prices from the operator catalogue, checked 13 September 2026.

Landing at Marrakesh Menara Airport

Data roaming for the eSIM line has to be switched on by hand after landing. The profile should already be installed by then, downloaded at home over Wi-Fi. After landing, choose it as the line your phone uses for mobile data. Orange carries the connection across Morocco from that point onwards, for the whole trip. On Android, globaldata goes into the APN field, and an iPhone asks for nothing. Because validity starts on first use, an early purchase costs you no days at all.

Which plan for Marrakech

This ladder is short, so the length of the trip decides the choice quickly. Fixed sizes ran from 1 GB up to 5 GB across seven to thirty days, checked 5 September 2026. Unlimited passes cover three, five and seven days, with nothing at all above that. Airalo listed the 1 GB seven-day plan at $5.99 on 5 September 2026. The seven-day unlimited pass was priced at $44.99 on the same date. A stay of longer than a week therefore has to sit on the fixed sizes. Recharges are made online, and the balance on the eSIM does not expire.

What Article 23 asks

Moroccan law puts the identity check on the carrier rather than on you. Under Article 23 the carrier is the party that has to verify who you are. It also keeps that carrier on the hook for the checks its resellers and shop agents run. The Morocco country page found no confirmed trap for a data-only eSIM of this kind. You buy the roaming profile without local registration of any kind at all.

Orange, and globaldata in the APN field

One Moroccan network carries this profile, and Orange is its name. Android wants globaldata typed into the APN field for the eSIM line. No value is listed for iPhone, so nothing is entered there. A phone left searching can be pointed at Orange by name. There is no second partner to fall back on in Morocco. Both the network and the APN were read on the entry, checked 5 September 2026.

Before you fly to Marrakech

  1. Unlimited passes stop at seven days in Morocco, with nothing above them.
  2. Article 23 puts the identity check on the carrier, not on you.
  3. Marrakesh Menara (RAK) is the arrival point for the Moroccan profile.
